  • Alumnus , Yi-Hsien LI from Taiwan

This one year programme was beyond expectations. I encountered Dutch open-minded communication and diverse cultural interactions with international colleagues. One of the greatest culture shocks was the encouragement to ask questions during class, contrary to my Taiwanese undergraduate experience. Dutch professors consistently urged foreign students to question, enhancing concentration and critical thinking. Company visits offered direct perspectives on the practical world, inspiring communication with field experts.

Living on campus was impressive, sharing cultural delicacies with international peers. Experiencing French bread, German sausage, Italian tiramisu, and Dutch cuisine enriched my stay. Meeting people from around the world led to engaging conversations. Exploring over 25 museums, from art to science, was fulfilling. Public transportation facilitated museum and city visits without rush. During the second semester, my internship at EntoBreed in Zwolle involved sales and marketing for mealworm ingredients. It taught project management and work-life balance. Overall, this experience empowered me and strengthened self-connection. My year in the Netherlands was invaluable, filled with questioning, cultural exchange, museum exploration, and practical learning, leaving lasting memories.
