With a constantly changing international market, legislation, social pressure, various stakeholders, inflation and the environment to take into account, agribusiness professionals really have their work cut out for them. Our 1-year Food Chain Management programme prepares you for the job of developing strong supply chain, logistic and export strategies to ensure that everything runs smoothly and food products reach their final destination at a profit. It is a hands-on programme where you get to demonstrate your application of the necessary knowledge and skills in internships at agribusiness companies.

The international food sector is a sensitive one. There are several stakeholders involved, whose needs have to be met, and also your international chain partners to keep in touch with. Besides people and organizations, you have to consider the environment and manage the import and export of raw materials. This requires a high degree of situational awareness.

Despite this programme’s name, the focus is on successfully managing a sustainable business, albeit in agrifood. This one year programme was beyond expectations. I encountered Dutch open-minded communication and diverse cultural interactions with international colleagues. One of the greatest culture shocks was the encouragement to ask questions during class, contrary to my Taiwanese undergraduate experience. Dutch professors consistently urged foreign students to question, enhancing concentration and critical thinking. Company visits offered direct perspectives on the practical world, inspiring communication with field experts.
Living on campus was impressive, sharing cultural delicacies with international peers. Experiencing French bread, German sausage, Italian tiramisu, and Dutch cuisine enriched my stay. Meeting people from around the world led to engaging conversations. Exploring over 25 museums, from art to science, was fulfilling. Public transportation facilitated museum and city visits without rush. During the second semester, my internship at EntoBreed in Zwolle involved sales and marketing for mealworm ingredients. It taught project management and work-life balance. Overall, this experience empowered me and strengthened self-connection. My year in the Netherlands was invaluable, filled with questioning, cultural exchange, museum exploration, and practical learning, leaving lasting memories.
